Mon, Wed 10:30-12:20

Instructor: Peter Lape

Course Overview: In this intensive seminar, students will research the ownership and occupation history of the UW Seattle campus, using archives, oral history and archaeological sources. We will visit different parts of the campus and adjacent lands, meet with relevant scholars and knowledge holders, and review museum collections. We will work together to decide the research process and output. This course is open to advanced students who want research experience and have an interest in Pacific Northwest indigenous history and archaeology, land rights and community-based scholarship. Students must submit a short statement of interest to Peter Lape (plape@uw.edu) to get an add code. Note that ARCHY 205 is NOT a prerequisite for this class.
