Primate Evolutionary Biomechanics Laboratory (PEBL)

We are a group of scientists devoted to understanding the morphology of hominins by exploring that of extant primates. The goals of the researchers associated with PEBL include understanding the posture and locomotion of humans and our closely related ancestors and sister taxa.  To do this, we assess energetics, measure gait parameters, and investigate the morphological changes associated with osteoarthritis.  We are affiliated with the Human Motion Analysis Lab of the Rehabilitative Medicine Department and the Department of Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine of the University of Washington. For more information, please visit the PEBL web site.
