Placement Record

An increasing number of PhDs in anthropology have been finding employment in areas other than teaching, such as government work and private industry. Many students combine anthropology studies with medicine, political science, law and/or other fields with specific job goals in mind. For further information about employment opportunities, the department recommends recent issues of The American Anthropological Association (AAA) Newsletter, which publishes periodic reports and profiles on this topic.

The Department of Anthropology assists its PhD graduates by posting job opportunities from colleges, universities, government agencies, private industry, and other organizations. The department encourages its graduates to attend national and international conferences to develop a network of potential employers. Additionally students are encourage to take advantage of the resources provided by the University of Washington Career Center, to prepare for jobs both inside and outside of, academia.

Our 2006 - 2016 PhD graduates are listed below, and updated to the best of our knowledge. Updates are welcome and can be sent to gradanth@uw.edu.
