Biography
B.A., Psychology, University of Texas at Austin: Minor in Anthropology; focus on Race and Gender Studies
M.S., International Development Management, American University; Certification in Public Anthropology; focus on health and community development
First generation American and college student, I'm originally from a small rural city in West Texas, oil country. I have recently begun to focus on this extractivist economic system, the relationship it creates between state actors and communities, and how this is reflected in our public health systems. I have begun my research in Brazil in a rural community mined for lithium, following the activists fighting for a different reality and analyzing the role of public health workers. I hope to eventually create transnational and intersectional connections by bringing this work back to my own hometown.
