Damarys Espinoza manages community engagement and community-based research at Environmental Health-Public Health Seattle & King County. Damarys is also affiliated faculty with the School of Nursing and Health Studies at the University of Washington Bothell and a lecturer with the Honors Program at the University of Washington Seattle. She is co-founder and co-director of Tlaloktekuhtli, a collective of indigenous Mexican families based in South Park, Seattle committed to increasing environmental justice and community health through the revitalization of Mesoamerican cultural traditions. Damarys received her doctorate in medical anthropology from the University of Washington. She is an indigenous Xicana, the proud daughter of Mexican immigrant parents, and mother to Axuni and Hai’uunari.
