I study the production of biomedical knowledge and the politics of rehabililtation, with particular attention to how institutions mediate both processes. My current project, Signature Injury, is an ethnography of combat-related mild traumatic brain injury (TBI). It is based on ethnographic research in a specialized TBI Clinic in a Veterans Affairs (VA) medical center, and I analyze the cultural and political context of post-9/11 military veterans' cognitive impairments.
